City of Belmont Kidz Fest and Harmonise Cultural Festival Postponed

The City of Belmont has made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s Kidz Fest event scheduled for 12 February 2022 at Garvey Park and Harmonise Cultural Festival which was scheduled for 19 March 2022 at Faulkner Park.

Kidz Fest is one of the highlights of the City’s free community events schedule that provides a range of fun activities and entertainment to children 14 years and under.

Harmonise Cultural Festival celebrates the City’s diverse culture and brings together the First Nation’s people, settled migrants and new arrivals to our country.

City of Belmont Chief Executive Officer John Christie said that the decision to postpone these much-loved events has not been made lightly, but was necessary given the current uncertainty surrounding the hosting of large-scale events.

“We take the health and safety of our community very seriously and feel that this is a common-sense decision at this point in time due to the opening of the WA border 5 February, the uncertainty around the emerging Omicron variant of COVID-19, and the implementation of the proof of vaccination requirements,” Mr Christie said.

“We understand this is disappointing for our community who look forward to these events, along with our contractors, event partners and staff who have been working to deliver Kidz Fest and Harmonise Cultural Festival,” he said.

The City will explore alternative ways of engaging our community within the parameters of health advice and best practice.
