The City of Belmont is inviting its residents to help celebrate their 125
th anniversary as a local government, with a free outdoor concert and a host of activities at Belmont Museum and Ruth Faulkner Library.
The Belmont Roads Board was gazetted in late 1898 and came into being in April the next year. On 11 April 1899, elections were held, and the first meeting took place the next day on 12 April 1899.
To celebrate their anniversary, the City of Belmont is inviting the community to come along to the Let’s Celebrate Belmont 125th Anniversary Party at Faulkner Park on Saturday 20 April from 4pm to 8pm.
Stand and Deliver and GLAM! will perform hit songs from the 80s, 90s and 00s, plus there will be a range of other entertainment, food trucks, free rides, and fireworks.
City of Belmont Mayor Robert Rossi is hoping for a big turnout at the concert and is encouraging everyone to join the party.
“125 years is a significant milestone and we wanted to make sure that everyone in our community gets the opportunity to enjoy the celebrations.
“Our big community events are something we are well known for at the City of Belmont. I love seeing the joy these free events bring to people of all ages.
“There's a wonderful sense of community when everyone gathers to share in a special day with their neighbours, friends, and family."

In addition to the concert, the Belmont Museum and Ruth Faulkner Library at Belmont Hub will be turning back the clock for their two-month Rewind Festival.
The festival includes over 30 events and activities during April and May.
There’ll be a range of engaging activities for all ages to enjoy, including hands-on workshops, a quiz night and talks from local experts and historians.
Visitors to the Belmont Museum can explore the new exhibition "Harmonious," which takes them on a musical journey through the city's past from 5 April. They can also stop by the Local History Room, now renamed the Peg Parkin Local History Room in memory of the City's first female Mayor and one of the original driving forces behind the Belmont Museum.
