City of Belmont's Latest Community Safety Video Highlights Security Appraisal Service

The City of Belmont’s eighth video released, as part of its community safety video series, highlights the free security appraisal service offered to businesses and residents.

The free security appraisal service helps identify any potential security risks, making home and business properties more secure.

“The City is committed to supporting safe communities and these free security appraisals are another way that the City is providing advice and information about crime prevention,” City of Belmont Chief Executive Officer John Christie said.

After the security appraisal, participants receive a report with recommendations on how to make their property safer. Subject to availability participants also qualify for some free security give aways such as an alarm padlock, window shock alarms and a personal safety alarm.

To request a site visit from one of the City’s Community Safety Crime Prevention Officers please complete an application form for an appraisal on the City’s website or call 9477 7416.

The video series is an initiative of the City’s Community Safety Taskforce and aims to empower residents with community safety information and advice.

Other topics covered in the community safety video series include home security, CCTV in the City, and family domestic violence support services.

The Community Safety Taskforce is a strategic multi-agency partnership created by the City of Belmont where members at a local level share a collective commitment to improving community safety.

Mr Christie said the videos were an example of the important work being initiated by the Community Safety Taskforce that aimed to assist the community.

“The Taskforce aims to challenge negative preconceptions about crime in the City of Belmont through the sharing of statistics, facts, information and positive initiatives undertaken by the Taskforce,” Mr Christie said.

Complementary to the City’s Community Safety Taskforce, is the Community Safety Alliance which is made up of community members who play an important role in sharing information about the City’s community safety programs and other initiatives.
