Crafternoon: Insect Mania Embroidery

Embrace your creative side or try out a new hobby in our monthly series of crafty afternoon workshops.

For adults and young people 16+

This session will be held in the Innovation Lab, Ruth Faulkner Library

Historical textiles often feature fantastical embroidery designs. Some of the most popular designs in the Elizabethan and Victorian eras drew on inspiration from the natural world. The embroidery of insects - both in visible mending and as decorative items has recently had a resurgence in popularity.

In this workshop, you will learn some of the basic techniques in hand embroidery - which remain unchanged throughout the ages - and embroider a small design to take home.

No experience is required, just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!
