In
July,
September,
November,
January,
March and
May every year, City contractors will spray kerbs, medians and footpaths using 'Glyphosate', weather permitting.
The City also conducts spraying on verges to control African Love Grass twice a year, during the months of May and September (
only as required).
Registering for the 'No Spray' list
Residents/ratepayers can register for the verge adjacent to their property to be left untreated with pesticides, by contacting the City in writing (by email or mail). The “No Spray” list only applies to local government road reserves and activities of City of Belmont staff and contractors.
Registration to the “No Spray” list requires residents/ratepayers to commit to maintaining their verge in a weed-free condition.
On a periodic basis the City will request re-confirmation from those registered to remain on the list. The City reserves the right to apply pesticides should the above conditions not be met.
To register
complete the online form or contact the City's Parks team at
parks@belmont.wa.gov.au
For further information on the safety and use of Glyphosate please read the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA)
fact sheet.
Verge mowing is undertaken six times per year;
December,
February,
April,
June,
August and
October.
As part of the City's Annual Maintenance Plan verge mowing activities will be undertaken in cul-de-sacs and verges along key arterial routes.
Further information can be found on the
verge maintenance and compliance page.
The City conducts annual street tree powerline pruning
between January and May each year.
The proposed dates and map outlining the street tree pruning area is published on the City's website prior to commencement.
To ensure the City’s tree pruning contractor has the required access please ensure that vehicles, boats, trailers and other potential obstructions are not left parked on the associated verges during the day.
A small amount of leaf debris is to be expected following pruning.
Powerline Pruning Program - South Side
The City will be conducting street tree powerline pruning within the south side area of the City of Belmont as shown in the map below. The works will be conducted during 6 January through to 28 March 2025.

A small amount of leaf debris is to be expected following pruning.
If you would like to discuss this further, please contact the City’s Urban Forest Supervisor, Adam Barnett on 9477 7441.
As part of the City's annual street tree planting program, the City plants street trees on select council verges
between May and September.
Locations selected for street tree planting will be marked out on the verge, and a calling card will be left in the letterbox of adjacent residents and/or business owners.
The City will take care of the planting, pruning and initial watering. Ongoing maintenance of the tree, where required, will also be undertaken by the City.
